October Horror Challenge 2018 #7: "Mesa of Lost Women"

I really enjoy getting to check out terrible but fun movies every year for the horror challenge. With older ones like this, it's fun to see the early ancestors of today's crappy DTV horror flicks. Back in the day, they had to shoot these movies on actual film, cut them together and show them on a projector in theaters; it wasn't as simple as quickly shooting a movie on video and releasing it direct to disc. It amuses me to see all that effort put into ridiculous movies like this one.

This movie is about a bunch of women discovered stranded and dehydrated in the desert.  Soon we find out that a mad scientist has been performing experiments in said desert, messing with nature and trying to implant the pituitary glands from insects into women, or something like that. Basically he turns women into monsters with the consciousness of insects. Why he wants to do this isn't clear, but he makes the women violent and dangerous.

The acting is a mixed bag, some of it is over the top and terrible, some of it isn't bad, but it is entertaining watching women seduce men in order to impregnate themselves and make baby monsters, I guess. It's pretty silly, but fun to watch and make snarky comments about, so I guess I had fun with it.
