This movie came highly recommended by some of my Twitter friends, so I was excited to check it out. It's about a reclusive young nurse who is impressionable, so she chooses a life of strict religious devotion after suffering some mysterious trauma. Now charged with the hospice care of Amanda, a former dancer whose body is being ravaged by cancer, Maud's fervent faith inspires an obsessive conviction that she must save the woman's soul from damnation, no matter what the cost.
Maud, the main character in this movie, is at first likeable, though a bit obsessive in her devotion to her strict religious practices. Maud lives a lonely existence, with no one but her God and her patients to keep her company, and as such, it's not surprising that she becomes obsessed with her patient, believing that it's her job to save the woman's soul. I can't say much else about this movie without giving too much away, but it's a chilling little psychological horror film with great performances and a dark atmosphere that never lets up. I highly recommend this one.
