This movie flew under my radar when it came out. I'm only now hearing about it nine years after it came out, and I don't know how I've never heard about it before because it sounds awesome. It's about two friends named Derek and Clif who embark on a yearlong trip around the world, vowing to capture the entire thing on camera. They vow that they're going to live life to the fullest, but just days into the trip, one of them begins to show symptoms of a mysterious illness and they vow to find the source of the illness before he is consumed completely. We learn before they even embark on their trip that Derek has a brain aneurysm that could rupture at any time and kill him, so he wants to live life to the fullest before he dies. This is one way to do that, I guess.
This is a found footage horror film which consists of Derek and Clif's video diary documenting their trip. As with any found footage horror film, it becomes a little hard to believe that the characters would keep filming even after everything that happens, but setting that aside, this is a clever little horror movie with some good gore and an interesting premise. I feel like I can't really say anything without giving too much away, because this is a rapid-fire little film and everything happens very quickly once it gets going, but it's a clever new twist on an old fable, and it deserves a bigger audience than it's had so far, so give it a chance if you can.
