Now THIS movie i haven't seen before. I saw the original movie but i haven't seen the sequel, although i heard it takes place on Halloween, so since that's my favorite holiday, I was even more excited to check this one out than i was for the original. Let's see what we think of this movie.
In this sequel, two friends named Sam and Sonny are searching around their town for junk when they find a terrifying surprise: Slappy the evil ventriloquist dummy from the first movie is back and he's found a way to resurrect his monster friends to start a ghoulish family of his own. He abducts Sonny's mom to serve as his own mother, and Sonny, Sam, and Sonny's sister Sarah need to figure out a way to save her before it's too late. Along the way, they have to do battle with evil pumpkins, violent gummy bears, and spooky witches. Will they be able to figure out what to do to save Sonny'smom or will she become part of Slappy's monstrous family?
Now call me crazy if you will, but if i found a creepy ventriloquist dummy while i was snooping around town, I wouldn't bring the thing home! That's what Sam and Sonny do, though. Of course at first it just seems like a regular ventriloquist dummy and doesn't seem evil until after they bring it home and it starts telling them its evil plan. It's a pretty ingenious plan too. Slappy plans to use the local Tesla tower to power up all his monster friends and set them loose on the town. I'll give credit where credit is due to the kids in this movie, they definitely try their best to solve things by themselves without involving the adults. Jack Black is back in this movie playing R.L Stine and i love seeing him in this movie. There'snot much else i can say about this movie. It's cute and fun and at least as good as the original.
