October Horror Challenge 2019 #44: "Slime People"
This is the kind of movie I would have thought was the coolest thing ever when I was 10 years old.
This movie is about some creatures who want to destroy earth of course, and they actually crawl out of the earth because of changes in the earth's climate (dammit, how timely). So yeah, swamp people start to crawl out of the mud and start killing people. They look like the creature from the black lagoon crossed with a teenage mutant ninja turtle. Like I said, I would have thought they were awesome when I was 10.
The way the film is set up is kind of cool. A pilot who's been on a flight for awhile, and when he lands his plane the town seems strangely empty, and he runs into a professor with his two teenage daughters who tell him the story of how the slime people showed up, and the military evacuated the area, but they got trapped before they could get out, so they're the only ones left and they have to try and survive.
The reason they got trapped is because the slime people created a fog that engulfed the area and became thicker until it hardened into a wall that cut people in the city off from the rest of civilization. Um...the fog turned into a wall? Yeah, I don't get it either. Maybe you have to drop acid for this movie to make sense. It's still fun to watch and mock, though. Maybe watch it with your 10 year olds, since they seem to be the target audience for this movie.
