October Horror Challenge 2018 #19: "Firehead"
The movie poster makes this movie look a lot cooler than it is. I seriously just watched this boring ass movie, and seeing this poster almost makes me want to watch it again. Almost but not quite. It's really a silly movie, but it somehow attracted respected actors like Christopher Plummer and Max Von Sydow, which I have no idea how that happened. They must have needed the money.
So this movie is about a scientifically enhanced guy who has these superpowers...his eyes glow blue and he can break down doors by looking at them, and project this blue glowy screen that deflects bullets. I'm not really clear on why they gave him these powers, but anyway, they spend the whole movie trying to track him down once he escapes, do I don't think they thought it out very well. Anyway, there's also this scientist, played by Jack Lemmon's son, who oui invented this virus that could kill like half the population of the world, and there's this secret society of crusty old guys who want to take over the world and kill a bunch of people, and Firehead and the scientist have to stop them...or something like that.
The movie has bad special effects, bad acting, and bad Russian accents. Christopher Plummer and Max Von Sydow are good, but they have smaller roles and ate underused, even though they act the fuck out of every scene they're in, and make the other amateur actors look even worse by comparison. The movie kinda sucks, but I did have fun making fun of it. I don't recommend you try it, though.
