Man I love this movie. It's funny because this is one of those movies that Stephen King rags on really badly and his book dance macabre which is his overview of the horror genre that he published in the '80s and he talks about why this movie doesn't have any brains and why it's just stock and slash and doesn't have any heart and soul and for a while I agreed with that but I don't know The more I watch this movie the more I like it I think you could make the argument that some of the later films in the Friday the 13th series our mindless stock and slash movies not that there's anything wrong with that but this one actually has some plot going for it It's got some surprises It doesn't surprise me because I've seen billions of horror movies but it has twists to it and they're kind of cool. I like how you generally just assume that the killer was male so when the killer and someone the ending comes and the killer is revealed It is kind of a surprise I would like to watch this movie now not knowing what happened and see if I could guess the ending maybe I've seen too many movies now and I would guess the ending but I'd like to try it sometime because when I watch this movie with people who haven't seen it They like it too and they get to the end and they say wow that's creepy that killer is messed up and I say yes I agree and I'm not going to give away who the killer is in this review even though we all know who it is because you know let's pretend we don't for a minute let's pretend that none of us have seen this movie before and a new movie called Friday the 13th has come out and it's in theaters and it's a horror movie and we should all go see it and maybe if we come into it with that mindset people would enjoy it more I don't know It's just a thought but I appreciate what this movie tries to do it's very loose remake of Mario bavas Bay of blood I recognize that right away when I saw it because I'm obsessed with Italian horror movies so I saw the similarities. remake might be a nice way of putting it when rip off would fit better, but I still like this movie so it's fine with me I don't mind if movies ripping each other off as long as they make good movies out of it I'm okay with that. Plus we all know that the twist at the end interests me because I have deep seated mommy issues so this movie is one of those that touches on touchy subjects and I'll probably always appreciate it for that It's a good little slasher and it holds up pretty well now It's not that bad It's not a movie that I liked when I was younger that I'm embarrassed to admit that I like now. for my money, this is a pretty good movie and I enjoy revisiting it every chance I get so I was happy to watch it again this year.
