I always say that the wolfman is my favorite universal horror monster but this one comes pretty close I love seeing it's creepy looking eyes and I love the scenes where people are swimming and the monster touches their feet and they gasp and look down and I can just imagine every time I'm swimming and I feel something touch my foot and I freak out that the creature from the Black lagoon is underneath me and is going to eat me and I am going to die So this probably wouldn't have been a good movie for me to watch when I was a kid right before I learned to swim but it's a fun little horror movie. Yes it's kind of dated, and yes the special effects are a little silly looking now, but I still think that kids can enjoy the movie because I've watched it with kids and they do like it and it's just about a subject that creeps me out because so much of the sea and the underwater world is unexplored that there could be creatures under there We don't know the creature from the Black lagoon could be real You don't know You know nothing. So I recommend that you check this movie out, and when you do make sure that you take time to appreciate the effort that went into making the creature book menacing even though now we can tell it's obviously a rubber suit pretend you're 10 years old pretend you're 5 years old pretend you're kidding in and just sit back and enjoy and you might have a really good spooky time with this one.
