This is one of the classic Universal monster movies that I've never gotten around to seeing, so I finally watched it today. I liked it. The contrast between this and some of the other movies I've watched today was striking. the horror in this movie is more seductive and quiet, and the movie lays its story out there without trying to cram 854378424664237893 plot twists into its running time, which was kind of nice. Karloff is creepy as the titular monster, but also tragic, since he really just wants to be reunited with his lost love, and he's not above seducing a human to do it (she's the reincarnation of his dead lover, you see). Not flashy or twisty, but still fun, and a nice change of pace for me.
